It was a long drive inside from the main highway but once we reached the place , it was a hidden gem with absolutely stunning views.
The breakfast was very nice with fresh ingredients, my husband loved the fresh salmon on his toast and I enjoyed the vegan grilled plate .
The view from the restaurant was to die for .

10 to 15 minute walk down to Bowness on Windermere pier at the pierced the views were great we took one journey on one of the fairies which gave us wonderful views of the surrounding area the boat was extremely clean and very smooth.
Buses were regular every 20 minutes to half an hour it was a bit confusing at some bus stops in different places like Grasmere for example and Ambleside.
The 599 open top bus was nice with a audio tour guide of the surrounding area for your journey.
Overall our stay or was very pleasant we manage to do everything that we plan to do within our five day trip.
The two standout places for me was wast water which is a must see and Rydal water but to be honest it's beautiful whichever place you go to disease just get better and better.

Bowness is a lovely location on Lake Windermere.
Bowness is a lovely location on Lake Windermere. If you like trips by water, it is a good place to visit but a bit lacking in things to do apart from that. There is a good bus service to Kendal or Keswick but leave the car and use public transport. You can go to Ambleside by boat or bus but the town is packed during the summer season.

The view from the window, presentation of the property, decor of the room, bottle of water on arrival. Closeness of township.
The staircase was a challenge and heating could have been better controlled.

The location was just perfect.
The location was just perfect. It was central for us to adventure out and explore the Lake District. It was also an exciting location for relaxation in the evenings. Lots of fine restaurants and pubs to choose from with a lovely holiday atmosphere abounding everywhere.
Regretfully the car ferry was out of order and not available to us. That was a bit of a nuisance as our touring plans had envisaged that being available. None the less we had a fabulous holiday and were not overly put-out by the loss.

It is so easy going in Bowness we try to come here as often as we can. There’s something to do for everyone young and old. We have a dog now and he’s so relaxed here many places are dog friendly. Bars and restaurants brilliant especially Italians on the Main Street. Our favourite place can’t wait to come back

I liked the Beatrix Potter museum, Holehird Gardens, and Stagshaw gardens, Hayes garden centre up in Ambleside. Booked an amazing day trip with Mountain Goat tours that took us around ten Lakes of the Lake District with our amazing guide Mark Shipley. the restaurants I went to was Francine's up in Windermere, Urban Food House (superb) and the Magic Roundabout. I was within walking distance of everything in Bowness. I probably would avoid booking in the school holidays, was very busy everywhere. the weather was very changeable but it is the wettest area of Great Britain.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Westbourne, and I must say it was a fantastic experience. The location of the hotel couldn't have been better – it was so close to both the lake and the town, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the area. There was a bus stop as well right outside the hotel. The manager was so friendly and took the time to provide us with valuable recommendations for places to visit in the area. There was free parking available at the hotel as well.
Stockghyll Cottage is quaint, with an easy 10 minute walk into Bowness on Windermere. It is ideally situated for exploring the Lake District. The property was clean and the owners Adrian & Heather were very welcoming. Breakfast was tasty and freshly cooked every morning with plenty of choices on the breakfast menu. Adrian was very informative about the local area and gave useful tips on places to visit and eat . Hamish the dog was very happy to greet us every morning too…
This is an exceptional bed and breakfast hotel in the heart of Bowness. Close to all the pubs, restaurants, shops and the lakeside, though up a short steep hill!! The bedroom (room 4) was very spacious and clean with a superb bath and shower. Nick the host also provides a few welcome added touches such as homemade cakes, bottles of water and fresh milk. There was a choice of cooked full English or Vegetarian breakfasts, plus bread, cereals and yoghurts.
Location was excellent, easily accessible to both Windermere and Bowness on Windermere. The hospitality and friendliness shown by Adam and Symoanne were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble and their attention to detail was just lovely to see. Accommodation so comfortable, extremely clean and great value for money. Ample free parking and generous continental breakfast included . Would definitely recommend and love to return. ...a great choice!
Wonderful surprising hotel, maybe I didn't reseach enough but really didn't expect the views, quality of decor, etc when I booked. Definately want to come back again with Wife for a personal trip, weekend. Harry was a delight and grounds needed more exploring by me, just didn't have enough. time to really sue the space (a fireplace roaring is on the cards I think for next time I come).
Brand new hotel and was amazing. Ideal location within minutes of all central Bowness pubs and shops. State of the art tvs and heating equipment. Fridge had milk, apple juice and water in. chocolates and biscuits complimented the tea coffee and hot chocolate. Easy access pin entry worked really well. Would highly recommend and communications with the owners ref parking went smoothly
Beautiful location with easy access to the restaurants etc. in Bowness on Windermere. Clean, comfortable room with outside balcony. Breakfast is exceptional and the best we've had in the UK. Waiting staff were efficient and friendly. Beautiful classical music played during breakfast added to the atmosphere. Would definitely stay here again.
The location was spectacular, very quiet yet only minutes walking distance from the lake and shops etc... So much choice for food and entertainment. We chose to eat out rather than have breakfast at the hotel, this was only because we were up and out. We are already thinking of staying again next year! Loved the place.
This clean apartment is located in a superb location in Bowness on Windermere. We especially like the extra firmness of the mattress (the usual soft mattress of BnB or hotel hurts my back), which is very comfortable! The owner has provided useful information about the car park after confirmation of the booking.
The property was very clean and in an excellent location, just a short walk to the lake / bowness on Windermere town centre;
the owners was very friendly and helpful, The full English breakfast was excellent everything cooked just perfect
we really enjoyed it we will be returning in the near future for sure.
Beautiful hotel in ideal location in Bowness on Windermere with nice gardens and lake views. Comfortable bed and nice bedding. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and we had a table overlooking lake. We stayed here many years ago and the hotel has been nicely upgraded since.
The hotel location and quality of service was excellent. We asked for a view of Lake Windermere from our bedroom, and the view was stunning. The only fault with our stay was that the spa, which was part of the reason we booked this hotel, was unavailable or fully booked.
Very spacious.
Great location. Close enough to walk to the lakeside but private enough to avoid the crowds.
Clean and well equipped with everything you could possibly want for a short stay,
Beautiful garden.
Dog friendly, short walk to restaurants/shops and lakefront, nearby hiking, comfortable space, convenient parking (pay), two bathrooms, underfloor heating, ping pong table was a nice surprise!
