The staff are very well-trained and detailed attention has been given to every aspect of the pub and bedrooms. The room was very clean with every luxury provided. The food and service in the restaurant was excellent. We can't fault it.

The Edwardian and Victorian history really makes Scarborough...
The Edwardian and Victorian history really makes Scarborough. So much to see and lots to read to understand this history. If you are prepared to walk then you will really get a glimpse into the past. The cliff side tram ways make ascending a breeze and £1.30 single trip is reasonable.
Do abit of research and grap a guide book. Also easy access to Bempton RSPB, Filey and Whitby. Well worth a mini break.

Love Scarborough so much.
Love Scarborough so much. My husband and I got married there last year. We make sure we go at least once a year and this year stayed at the south cliff and found a cliff lift we didn't know about so that was a bonus as husband suffers with back pain and finds it hard to walk up hill. But this meant we didn't need to use public transport and taxis.

Scarborough is a beautiful seaside town, it has everything...
Scarborough is a beautiful seaside town, it has everything you need to have a relaxed holiday or lots to do for the kids! Peasholm park is a beautiful place with a huge lake and forest trails and a model ship naval battle in the summer! you can see squirrels running around, and loads of different insects! there's an app you can get to search for dinosaurs its great! Or you can spend the day on the beach with the donkeys! take a pirate ship trip around the bay or ride a speedboat! open top buses are every 20 minutes back and forth to the park and sea life centre too.
The town has lots of shops everything you need if self catering too, great bars and restaurants and of course lots of fish and chip shops!

Scarborough has something for everyone.
Scarborough has something for everyone. The north shore where I stayed is quieter but has the castle at one end and the sealife centre at the other. The miniature railway and park are nearby. The beach is clean and dog friendly ( they are not allowed in high season). The south shore has the amusements, more tourists shops and the pier. There are boat tours you can book here too. There are many museums to visit, one ticket to visit them all. If self catering, many small store and supermarkets are around along with the main town centre where you will find a variety of local artisan shops and restaurants as well as more mainstream ones.

Like many seaside towns Scarborough is run down and dirty it...
Like many seaside towns Scarborough is run down and dirty it attracts many people who are looking for seasonal work but often have social problems making for an unpleasant atmosphere in the streets. There is a virtual plague of Seagulls they are everywhere fighting, squawking among themselves dive bombing in the streets aggressively pinching food, bird droppings adorn all the buildings and the streets. It would not harm the birds to move them by not allowing them to nest on buildings. There is not much to do in the town other than eat, drink and play the penny slots. The shopping is very poor. The beach is very nice and the park also. The water park is currently closed. The outdoor theatre does have very good concerts in the summer and would be the only reason to come back. Dog lovers should love the town but it's not for me.
The hotel is lovely and spotlessly clean, rooms are immaculate with really comfy beds, breakfast was brilliant with plenty of options, but I think the best part has to be the service and staff. Everyone is so helpful, friendly and lovely that it’s the highlight of the stay. Each person goes out of their way to help and make you feel welcome. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Scarborough but here after our visit. Faultless and we can’t wait to come back! : )
We were impressed with the excellent all round upkeep of the Carlton. The room was clean, neat and tidy with an excellent decor, an on suite with a "good to be here"
feeling, excellent. Parking was easy and plentiful. A mere 10 minute walk to the town centre. The staff were very helpful and I will stay here again. In my experience this hotel is the best we have used and can recommend this hotel to others. Well done to the Carlton.
This is a well located family run hotel on the Esplanade along Scarborough's attractive seafront. Staff were very helpful and let us store our bikes securely which is vital for us. The breakfast was also good quality and plentiful. There is a very well run comfortable lounge bar which is unsurprisingly enjoyed by guests and locals together. All round a very friendly place and superb value.
Staff were fantastic. Owner very friendly made us feel welcome. We asked to book in early they advised us they would try their best and did book us in early. Rooms specious and clean
On street parking which hotel sold us a parking permit which works out cheaper than in a 24hr car park. Breakfast which was included was very good plenty of choice
We had a lovely time at the Catania, the small double was perfect for our needs and the breakfast was very good and catered well for me as a vegetarian. The hotel is overlooking the bay and a stride from lots of amenities, Peasholme Park and the best chippy in Scarborough. We shall return to lovely Scarborough and the Catania. xxx
The apartment exceeded our expectations, clean, warm and welcoming, walks from the apartment were good, lift down to the beach 5 minutes walk away , the south side of Scarborough has lovely gardens to stroll down to the beach, all within reach of the apartment .
Excellent interaction with the staff as usual during my stays here. The location, the room, the Wi-Fi, the Samsung TV with apps, hot shower, easy access in and out of hotel after hours are what I enjoyed the most. The parking is getting better.
Lovely accomodation, fantastic correspndence from the owner (Tim), nothing too much trouble, great sea views, 10 mins walk into the centre of Scarborough, lovely little cafe 2 minutes walk from the hotel (Fairways) for breakfast.
The property was spotless & had everything we needed for a two night stay! The hosts were lovely & made us feel at home!
Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the heart of Scarborough!
Ashburton house is in a good walkable area for beach ,town and all attractions. Good breakfasts..plentiful and freshly made . And accommodation one of the best quirky hotels you'll find in Scarborough.
The lounge and restaurant areas were excellent. The food was always delicious. The staff are by far the hotel's best asset. They are attentive and very friendly. They cannot do too much for you.
A nice hotel with helpful staff and in a perfect location in Scarborough. I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Scarborough. A nice view from the first floor roof top as well
